The outside of the building is characterized by glass and steel façades, matched with brick elevations that recall Italian building traditions.
The idea behind the interior layout, designed by Goring & Straja firm, was to create a highly flexible and inspiring work environment, with spaces suitable for both individual concentration and group work.
Hence the presence of many meeting and lounge areas: bright and informal corners making full use of the daylight shed from broad glass expanses. This design choice provides a significant energy saving whilst maintaining perfect comfort for the occupants. From this very necessity came the plan for sun shading systems with the Verosol Silverscreen technology:
a solution that keeps the quality of natural light while avoiding undue heat irradiation or reflection off monitors and surfaces.
The blinds feature the Verosol Silverscreen thermo-reflecting fabric filter with mechanical Latemar.
With its thin layer of aluminium it enhances the thermal performance of the sun shading system.
This layer is not only quite transparent, but also improves protection against
sun radiation and doubles as a true low-emission cladding.
In a country such as Italy, in summer, Verosol Silverscreen 2% Low-E helps keep the indoor temperature down, while in winter it avoids the dispersion of internal heat. The result is a reduction in the energy needed for heating and cooling the building, thus improving energy performance and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Silverscreen 2% Low-E is manufactured in accordance with ISO 14001, the international environmental standard. In addition to Oeko-Tex and Greenguard certifications, using this fabric allows to earn relevant points that count for LEED, Green Star and Breeam certifications.
It comes in white, black, and eight shades of grey and brown, making it aesthetically suited to any architectural setting.
Around this open-plan area and lining the perimeter of the building there are several 4- and 8-seater meeting rooms which could also serve as closed-door offices for two people at most.
The areas supporting the operational centre, with their free-standing furniture and worktops on casters, are intended to foster communication among workgroups in the form of informal meetings.
Lastly, common areas like the cafeteria and ground-floor hall are spacious, bright and characterized by furniture and walls with vibrant colors. Throughout the building daylight is
brilliantly exploited from full-height perimeter windows. This ensures a high level of visual comfort thanks to the Verosol Silverscreen sun shading system by Omnitex, which regulates radiation and heat from the sun, avoiding reflection/refraction off computer monitors and teleconference screens.
Omniroll roll blinds, with mechanical Latemar Catena and a steel-finish
brass chain control system, have been installed hanging from the ceiling.
The Verosol Silverscreen shading fabric, with its heat-reflecting, filtering and warming properties, is certified in Italy for being free from harmful volatile compounds according to Oeko-Tex and Greenguard standards.
