Verosol Enviroscreen allows the external surface to reach a solar reflectance ratio greater or equal to 74%. Regardless of the color chosen inside, it ensures that the light transmission never exceeds 4%, as well as helping control temperature. The employed Verosol Enviroscreen fabric is also PVC free and obtained the important Cradle to Cradle certification, which analyzes the
full lifecycle of a product with regard to the environment.
The over 1,000 technical blinds, custommade and installed by Omnitex in just 60 days, can be manually operated by cord, steel chain or motorised.
Located inside the Diamond Tower, which is part of the Porta Nuova Varesine complex designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the Samsung District houses the headquarters of Samsung Electronics Italia with the company’s offices, the Smart Arena auditorium and a Smart Home showroom open to the public, where it is possible to experience first hand an interactive home on nine stores across 12,500 sq. m.
Work spaces have been designed following a smart-working approach, with a combination of open spaces and more closed, private sections to guarantee all working needs could be met, even when such needs change during the day and as different employees come and go. And that’s when the Verosol Enviroscreen technology comes into play.
It is essential that comfort inside workspaces is provided by plentiful natural light, which must also be screened as required to prevent annoyingly bright glare, blinding rays and excessive heat.
In oder to do so, the large glass windows that characterize the building’s façades are equipped with a total of 946 systems with Verosol Enviroscreen technology for roller blinds provided by Omnitex: aside from offering a perfect view of the outside, they allow regulation of the amount of light flowing in to ensure ideal conditions for using computer screens or the extensive video projection systems.
The metallised Verosol Enviroscreen G3 Optimum fabric, that filters light and reflects heat, is Cradle to Cradle certified and 100% recyclable but also has excellent visual and thermal performance, flame retardant properties and up to 74% external sun reflection. The six different color versions allowed the client to choose the most suitable colors for the project, enhancing the aesthetics of the working environments with these roller blinds.
The building plan lent itself to an open space layout which increases the usable surface and makes it more flexible to reconfigure. Closed offices were housed along the straight-sided portions of the building while the rounded parts proved suitable for open plan and recreation spaces.

The deep body of the building, near the wings, limited the placement of meeting rooms, small break areas and photocopiers. The lighting project had great relevance and focused on differentiating the amount of direct and indirect light throughout the day.
Together with the designers, Omnitex worked on the sun shading systems by offering different products based on the analysis of the work spaces. Throughout the premises, manual chain-operated roll blinds with Verosol EnviroScreen fabric have been installed, which provide the right protection in terms of visual and thermal comfort. For closed offices, open plan areas and meeting rooms, the Verosol EnviroScreen 802 fabric has been chosen, which ensures proper comfort to users and meets the Italian regulatory requirements.
Areas less exposed to sunlight have been equipped with the Verosol EnviroScreen 810 fabric that shields less from outside and thus makes fuller use of direct natural light.
The “Gemini Center”, designed by Gantes and Morisi, consists of two towers and 21 floors that overlook the entire business district in Lorenteggio, in the south west of Milan. The Reply company’s offices, leader in designing solutions based on new communication channels, occupyapproximately 6,000 m2 across 11 floors. The interior design has been carried out by Alessandra Litta Butté and Paolo Tatavitto.
The space planning is based on placing the workstations in wide open spaces, while the ancillary meeting rooms and communal areas are located around the outer edge of the structure. All 11 floors use crystal walls, which are the ideal solution to maximizeatural daylight in inner areas as well.
In a Mediterranean country such as Italy, it is necessary to diversify the amount of incoming light throughout the day. The south and west-facing exterior walls have been equipped with manually-operated chain roller blinds, push fixing systems that make it easy to pull up or roll down the blinds and Verosol EnviroScreen 802 fabric.
The outer layer of aluminium provides optimal protection from heat and filters direct sunlight to ensure a good balance between external visibility and the amount of light inside. As a result, it takes full advantage of the Verosol’s unique manufacturing process, which removes glare on monitors, but allows the user to preserve visual depth by looking outwards.
